According to Sasa Ozmo of Sport Klub, Novak Djokovic is not going to compete in the Miami Open due to an elbow injury. Moreover, the freelance reporter Carole Bouchard reports that Novak struggled during the BNP Paribas Open because of this issue and the World No. 2 consulted a doctor in Monaco immediately after he was defeated by Nick Kyrgios.

Although Djokovic is 29, he has struggled with several injuries recently. He didn’t compete in the Western & Southern Open last year due to a left wrist ailment. As Simon Briggs of the Telegraph reported, Novak Djokovic announced that his wrist had been bothering him one week ahead of the 2016 U.S. Open and that he had been concerned about his level of play.

Djokovic said back then: “The wrist hasn’t been in an ideal state for the last three-and-a-half weeks,” he said. “But I’m doing everything in my power with the medical team to make sure that I’m as close to 100 percent as possible.”

“Sometimes time is what you need as an athlete,” he added, “and because the US Open is around the corner, I don’t have too much time. I will try to compensate and improvise as much as I can and find the best ways of getting myself properly ready.”

Novak managed to go to the finals of the U.S Open, but Stan Wawrinka was a better rival and Djokovic didn’t look like himself on the court. At the 2017 Australian Open, Djokovic shocked the world by losing to 117th ranked player called Denis Istomin. Should we remind you that the Serbian tennis play had won five titles in Australia in the last six years?

Djokovic has obviously struggled lately as he was defeated by Kyrgios in back-to-back tournaments, while Andy Murray sits comfortably at that World No. 1 spot of the ATP list.
