Who Will Lead The Cowboys In Sacks In 2017?

Going into the draft, one of the two major holes on the Dallas Cowboys roster was the lack of the true defensive lineman and a guy that can legit go after the quarterback, disrupt their rhythm and take the signal callers down. The fact that the Dallas Cowboys used their first-round pick on a defensive end tells you just how important it was for the Cowboys to fill the void at this position. Now, Taco Charlton is on the team, ready to prove that he was worth the number one pick.

Demarcus Lawrence has struggled to stay healthy over the past couple of years. He is still the best player that the Dallas Cowboys have at this position. If Lawrence can have a healthy season, he could be the one to have the most sacks on the team. Something around 9 or 10, if he doesn’t miss any games due to injuries or something similar, and it could be a great number for Dallas.

The other guy that is going to be in the mix is David Irving. Yes, four games that he is going to have to miss at the start of the season are not going to help him lead this squad in sacks, but he is a good player that might be able to be a team leader in the 12 games that he is eligible to play in. Maliek Collins is an option as well, but he probably won’t be able to do this right away.

The injuries for the Demarcus Lawrence have been something that he hasn’t been able to overcome. Two back surgeries for the 25-year-old have stopped him from making a bigger impact for this team. But, if he can stay healthy, he will have a monster year for the ‘Boys.
