Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) Gives Galaxy S5 The ‘Lollipop’ With Loaded Materials Design

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), the US midget network carrier announced a surprise version update of the Android Operating System. The carrier’s overnight update to version 5.0 of Android Operating System, officially called the Lollipop, for Galaxy S5 appears to have caught many who have ribbed the network for its slouchy updates, on the wrong foot!

Android 5.0 Has All New ‘Materials Design’

Samsung Electronics, the makers of the Galaxy S5, in a flyer-release, earlier, had noted that the latest software version release. The software is for tablets as well as smartphones, besides connected devices on Android software including TV, wearables as well as cars. The highlight of the update is the rush of ‘material designs,’ including animations, 3D views and enhanced colors for fluid animations!

While Samsung Electronics claims to new Material Designs trigger wide-ranging discussions, Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) appears to have quietly allowed the version update over its network! The first stage rollout is sluggish, while the OTA release is expected further down the weeks!

TouchWiz Remains, despite New Lock Screen

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) appears to be taking a leaf out of its own previous experience of being the first of the networks to rollout the software update. This time too it is the first of carriers, for Galaxy S5, similar to its first rollout of Moto X OS updates.

Network updates have helped in pushing the distribution of the OS, with Android 5.0 showing 1.6% usage in the past month. While other’s such as LG, Motorola as well as Nvidia wait for Google to fix some of the existing bugs, Samsung’s Galaxy S5 update have made their debut, and Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) has followed through with its roll-out!
