These apps and web services are small things that have no significant meaning in the grand scheme of things; however, they are quite useful and unusual by nature.

So without further ado, here are the most unusual and useful apps and web services that people have spent a lot of hours making.

Smartphones these days offer a pathway to a global database of apps through the app store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). On these app stores, there are tons of unusual but very useful apps that can help you with a lot of things. One such app is aSmart HUD which is an app that offers various types of navigational data all on your phone. This app displays information such as time, temperature, compass heading, and the app can be used while you drive to display your speed and navigation. aSmart HUD is available on both the App Store and Google Play.

2. Mailinator

Mailinator is a web service that allows you to create an email address to use for various web services and gets deleted after a few hours. This gives you a chance to use that email address to register for various web services without getting spammed afterward. There is no limit to how many email addresses you wish to create, but you cannot send emails using that address.

3. Ruler

With so many websites offering unique services, we had to include Ruler as one of them. Ruler.onl is a web service that is essentially a ruler. You can use this service if you wish to measure the actual size of small objects by adjusting your screen resolution to the ruler itself. It can be considered a very useful web service if you need to measure something but don’t have a ruler with you. The maximum length that this web service offers is 20-inches or 50 centimeters.

Wikitude is an augmented reality app available on both App Store and Google Play which can be used to determine your location. The app uses your phone’s camera and displays markers of restaurants and attractions near your area. The app itself is hard to get used to; however, it can be very useful for someone traveling.

5. Newsmap

Newsmap allows you to browse all the world news headlines on a single webpage. This service has news headlines from all categories such as sports, technology, health, business, world, and more. Simply switch off a category if you’re not interested in viewing such headlines and you can even drill down to news headlines from a particular country.

6. AccountKiller

AccountKiller.com is a web service that displays how difficult it could be to delete a specific social media account. As you might know, some social media platforms make it very difficult for you to delete your account, and AccountKiller displays that. It also provides you the necessary information on how to delete a specific social media account, with white meaning the process is easy, grey hard, and black nearly impossible.
