Toyota Supra Vs Mazda RX-9 – Which Car is Better?

Toyota and Mazda have been rivals for a long time now, and in the meantime, these companies prepared Supra and RX-9 for 2018. At some point, you probably wondered which car is better, so we compared these two amazing vehicles.

BMW will join Toyota in the production of the new Supra, according to Motoring Crunch. To return the favor, Toyota will help the German automaker develop the next BMW Z5. While these two companies joined forces, Mazda is working on the new rotary engine that will power the upcoming RX-9.

Engine

The 2017 Toyota Supra will sport a hybrid powertrain that could utilize small 1.6-liter turbo engine with electric motors, but some reports suggest that the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine could be the heart of this machine. No matter which option we get, it is expected for it to produce 400 hp or more. With this setup, Supra will need less than four seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill while the top speed of the new version will be limited to 155 mph. On the other hand, we have the 2018 Mazda RX-9 with a 1.6-liter SkyActive-R Wankel unit. However, this car is still in the development stage, so we don’t know any details about the performance and power figures.
