Marvel Netflix series will kick off soon, and Jon Bernthal will play the role of The Punisher. Daredevil Season 2 was iconic, and we expected Jon Bernthal who played Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher to get his own show. The character in Daredevil Season 2 already took the dark path, and he sought vengeance against the criminals of New York after the mysterious death of his family. This story is going to continue in The Punisher, and the main character will develop in the right way, making the new series highly-anticipated.

The Punisher Release Date

Dearbhla Walsh has been responsible for one of The Punisher’s first episodes, and she accidentally revealed to THR “it’s [the show] not airing until November.” It makes a lot of sense because Netflix loves to release its series before Thanksgiving because everyone is at home. Nothing is official for now, and we will let you know when everything is confirmed.

Poster

The very first poster has arrived where we can see Jon Bernthal’s domination. It captures the dark and mysterious tone of the character and the future show, with the deadly weapon over his shoulder which “screams” that the danger is coming. The Punisher Cast

Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple is not going to appear in The Punisher. It seems that her absence from the show has nothing to do with the dark plot, and she declared: “I really wanted to do a cameo on The Punisher, but it doesn’t always work that way.” Prefacing that by explaining, “For The Defenders, it was difficult to get everybody together. People are busy! There are so many times where I really want it to happen.” As it appears, Claire will sit out this time.

The Punisher has already finished filming, and it is going to post-production. Frank Castle didn’t get the famous skull on Daredevil, but it seems that we will watch The Punisher in its notorious outfit. Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll is going to be a co-star to Jon Bernthal. Frank and Karen Page’s chemistry was great on Daredevil, and this will be interesting to watch it on this new show.

“We couldn’t have asked for a more talented group of actors to round out the cast of Marvel’s The Punisher,” said Executive Producer and showrunner Steve Lightfoot in a statement. “It’s a thrill to watch them each brings their characters to life with such layered, nuanced performances.”

Marvel TV is very proud of the cast of The Punisher,” said Executive Producer Jeph Loeb, “Each actor brings a special promise who surround Jon Bernthal’s exceptional performance.”

According to Marvel, Ben Barnes is going to play the role of Billy Russo. Barnes describes Russo as “Frank’s Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces.” Adding that, “He runs a successful private military corporation called “Anvil.”’ If you are the fan of Marvel Comics, you should know the destiny of the Russo, who later on becomes Jigsaw, The Punisher’s villain. However, it remains to be seen how much of this will be presented in the show.

Meanwhile, Ebon Moss-Bachrach is going to play Micro, who is described as “a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them.” Micro is the TV version of David Linus “Microchip” Lieberman from the comics. On the other hand, we will also see Dinah Madani played by London-born actress Amber Rose Revah. Her character is described as “a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent who is vexed by the Punisher.”

The other characters that will be in The Punisher are Lewis Walcott (Daniel Webber), Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore), Rawlins (Paul Schulze), Sarah Lieberman (Jaime Ray Newman) and Sam Stein (Michael Nathanson).

Series Details

The Punisher is the first show created ever since Netflix and Marvel announced their cooperation. The showrunner is Steve Lightfoot, and he declared: “For me, the complexity and unpredictability of Frank Castle make him an incredibly compelling character and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into his world. After watching Jon’s performance in Marvel’s Daredevil, I could not be more excited to be working with him to further develop and progress the story of this anti-hero in a show of his own.”

Meanwhile, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said: “We want to thank the fans who are clamoring for more of Jon’s stunning and powerful performance as Frank Castle from Marvel’s Daredevil. Now combined with Showrunner Steve Lightfoot’s compelling writing, we’re thrilled to bring Marvel’s The Punisher to Netflix.”

The lead actor Jon Bernthal had something to say about his role: “For me, it’s not a question of what they want to do with a character, it’s more, how are they going to do it, and who’s going to be the ones to do it. This character is in my bones now, he’s in my blood. If they want to go forward in any way, for me it’s just really going to be about making sure we do it in a way that’s raw and intense. I want to push the envelope. I wanna alienate more of the audience and try to bring them back.”

The official trailer is not out yet, but you can see this teaser Netflix posted on Twitter:
