The new Hyundai Kona graced us with its first official images and let us take a look inside

As you probably know, the all new Hyundai Kona should have its big reveal today, on Tuesday, June 13th, but it seems that numerous sites online are blocking them with their spy photographers and random images of Kona sightings. Hyundai decided to cut that by releasing first official photos of their new pet, and it happened, believe it or not, yesterday. What we have here for you are four low-quality images that are most likely from the official press pack but the kicker here is that we have one of those showing us, officially, what the interior of this highly anticipated Korean compact SUV looks like.

As you can see the design language of the Kona is pretty bold, and the reason for that is because this vehicle is supposed to aim at the younger customers in Europe. That means Kona sports a twin-headlamp setup up front along with the company’s latest “Cascading Grille” and lots of plastic body cladding. Thanks to the Hyundai-blog, besides the outside shots, we received one photo of the interior, and we see that the cabin design is mimicking the style first seen on Hyundai’s latest models, such as the Ioniq and the i30, that have the same touchscreen display mounted over the air-vents.

As you can see the interior was treated to vividly colored details on the vents, the gearshift surround and the seats as well in order to match its funky exterior and to make things a bit different, but it still kinda pulls toward the Ioniq and the i30 when the design is considered. As it was probably mentioned before, the Kona is expected to mix and match the parts from the i20 and i30, while the all-wheel drive version will be offered as an option that has to be paid in order to own.

As far as engines are considered, Kona will bring the choice between the turbocharged 1.0 and 1.4 L units, that are already available with the i20 and i30 models, and the customers will get to choose between a manual or dual-clutch transmission.

This is it for now, but be patient because later today we will have more information which we will report back, as soon as the official reveal ends.
