The Last of Us Part 2 Release Date – News and Updates

Source:dailystar.co.uk

The Last of Us was one of the best games in the last decade mainly thanks to an incredible storyline and well-formed characters placed in a post-apocalyptic world. We will never forget Joel and Ellie which brought us to our tears and made us smile as they made their way through destroyed North America. Joel and Ellie will appear together in The Last of Us Part 2, older. But have in mind that Naughty Dog said that everything is “very early in development.”

Storyline

The Last of Us Part 2 will follow the story five years after the original game finished. Ellie is now 19, and Joel is an aging old man, and it is too early to know the exact storyline, but we know that Ellie is really mad about something. In the reveal trailer, we can see Ellie playing the guitar, covered in blood, and there are corpses next to her. After she has done with her song, she tells Joel: “I’m going to kill every last one of them.”

Her anger is definitely going to be important in the second part of the popular game, whereas according to Neil Druckmann, Westworld’s Shannon Woodward will play a role in the next installment.

The Last of Us Part 2 Release Date

The Last of Us Part 2 teaser trailer was shown at PlayStation Experience 2016, but Naughty Dog doesn’t want to reveal too much since the title is still in an early stage of development. This means that the exact release date isn’t known. The new game will be developed by Naughty Dog, who is currently working on Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy.

Five Things We Would Like To See

1. New Setting

From the original game, we know that the cordyceps infection which destroyed humanity is a worldwide pandemic and this is great because Naughty Dog can move the storyline somewhere else. So, we might see our characters somewhere in Europe, Russia, or any other place and the change of setting will make you feel as if you are playing a completely different game. Furthermore, The Last of Us Part 2 will detach from the previous game in almost every aspect. Maybe there are some new characters that will join Joel and Ellie on the journey. There are endless possibilities for the next game, and we are so excited about it.

2. Additional Scary Enemies

The infected characters/enemies we had a chance to face in The Last of Us were unsettling, but not horrifying. With the new setting in mind, Naughty Dog can add new, scarier enemies that are more challenging to beat or avoid. Furthermore, some animals might be infected with this disease which would make it even more frightening.

3. Dialogues Options

Sometimes, the introduction of dialogue choices may elevate the game to a whole new level, and it would be fantastic to see this in The Last of Us Part 2. By doing this the players are more involved, and some of the actions may be affected by what we choose to say while the characters and the narrative are not so linear. Even if these choices impacted the plot in a small way, it would really enhance the gameplay.

4. A Genuine Human Threat

For example, The Walking Dead reveals that sometimes, humans can be worse enemies than the dead. When the world is drastically changed, people change together with it, and they would sometimes do anything to survive. There is a glimpse of this in the first game in the form of thugs, cannibals, and the fireflies, but we would like much more of this aspect in The Last of Us Part 2.

5. Multiplayer Focus

The Last of Us’ multiplayer was very good as it transferred the survival mechanics from the single-player mode into the online world in a tremendous manner. One of the superb aspects of the multiplayer was its implementation of social networks into online progression, and we believe that The Last of Us Part 2 should focus on an already good multiplayer and make it even better. However, some would argue that the new game should build a better single-player model, so there are different opinions.
