The Exorcist season 2 returns on Friday, September 29 according to the Fox. However, if you’re hoping to see some of the actors you saw in season 1, that’s not going to happen. The show is coming back, but it will be a lot different than its first chapter.

It was under the question if the TV series should be renewed for another season. It didn’t surpass the number of 2 million viewers per episode, and that was the main reason for the network to ponder over renewing. But those who were fond of the show were strong enough to pry out one more season.

The creator of TV series Jeremy said that his expectations were fulfilled even with the first season and he wouldn’t feel disappointed if it weren’t renewed.

“My goal was then that this first season needed to tell a story with a beginning, a middle and an end and that story was the possession of the Rance family,” Slater stated. “So by the conclusion of [the season finale], you will get a satisfying ending to that story, as was my plan.”

The Exorcist Season 2 follows the time after the Georgetown exorcisms. And when it comes to the cast, most of them won’t be returning for the series’ sequel. While Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels and Kurt Egyiawan are seen to again star in the show, the Rance family fell apart. This means that we won’t be seeing more of Geena Davis, Hannah Kasulka, Brianne Howey and Alan Ruck.

“A potential season two would find Marcus, Tomas and Bennett tasked with helping a new family or a new case of possession,” according to Slater. “Our challenge now is to create a new family that you care about just as much as the Rances, and to find ways to make their story feel just as compelling and unique as what came before.”

And he also added: “that doesn’t mean we’ll never see any of the Rances again.”
