We all fondly remember Terminator movies and its main actor Arnold Schwarzenegger who made our childhood more interesting with his impressive acting skills. Well, our beloved Arny recently revealed that he likes the idea of the Terminator comeback. We know that Paramount officially canceled everything planned for sequels of Terminator: Genisys but Arnold’s words bring us some hope at least.

When it comes to Terminator franchise, it has been wildly popular, but in comparison to Cameron’s T2: Judgement Day (1991), T3: Rise of the Machines (2003) falls behind because he earned more money with his movies than the Terminator franchise. For example, the T3 in 2003 took $150 million domestically and about $205 million in total while the Terminator: Salvation from 2009 ‘only’ made around $125 million.

Even though the cash made in 2009 was not satisfactory the new owner of the franchise, Paramount, tried to resuscitate the movie series with Genisys in 2015. Even with a team that consisted of names such as Alan Taylor and Emilia Clarke (known for their roles in Game of Thrones) they simply couldn’t make over $90 million domestically which was not promising.

We can’t really discern the main reason behind the ‘fail’ of the Terminator sequels, but we can all agree that the best and biggest trademark of the franchise is no other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has been the focal point of almost each and every movie so we can’t imagine one without him. Last week we heard a rumor where it is claimed that Arny wasn’t up for a return to the franchise?!

According to Fandango one of their reporters said this: “I don’t want to call it, like, fake news, like the president calls it, but I think people just write things – I have no idea why. Just because Paramount doesn’t want to pick up the Terminator franchise, you have 15 other studios willing to do it – that doesn’t mean the Terminator franchise is finished, right? It just means they are on their way to negotiate with another studio, but I can’t give you the details of that. They’ll announce that. But, yes, the Terminator franchise is never finished. And remember that after 2018, James Cameron is getting it back, and then it will continue on!”

So the hope lives on!

James Cameron also claimed to be interested in a reboot of Terminator in January since he reclaimed legal rights to the franchise. That just adds up to Arny’s word’s honesty. Tim Miller is being thought of as a potential director of Terminator 6. He has worked on Deadpool and Cameron won’t be available for this project because he has a lot on his plate Avatar sequels-wise. But Arny had words of praise for Cameron saying: “Cameron will be producing it, and there will be another director on it. I’m always looking forward to doing another Terminator, especially if the story is written well and it really entertains the whole world.”

Many believe that the time gap between the movies might hurt the popularity of the upcoming film since there might not be many fans that were there as a part of ‘original’ audience. Schwarzenegger, on the contrary, believes that there are fans out there who are eagerly waiting for the next chapter of the popular cyborg saga. And he has good reasons to believe so since globally speaking the Terminator Genisys made $350 million which makes $440 million when you combine it with domestic estimates.

Those numbers may not be groundbreaking nowadays, but they might be enough for Arny to get back on board for at least one more Terminator movie. David Ellison (producer) made a statement last month where he claimed that something major is about to happen soon. That might mean that Schwarzenegger’s wish will be granted.
