The Son is coming back with its second season.

An American TV drama series had its first season lasting for 10 episodes. Based on a Philipp Meyer’s book, the series is a creation of Meyer, Brian McGreevy, and Lee Shipman who are executive producers along with Tom Lesinski and Jenna Santoianni. The storyline is centered around McCullough family through its three generations, giving special attention to Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan) transformation from being a friendly family patriarch into a killing psychopath.

Apart from Brosnan, the series also includes Henry Garrett, Sydney Lucas, Carlos Bardem, Jacob Lofland, and Zahn McClarnon among the members of the crew. The initial plan was for Sam Neill to take the role of the main character, but for some personal reasons, he decided to leave it.

With this series, AMC stays faithful to its long-term tradition.

“The Son’ proudly continues our Westerns tradition at AMC, including ‘Broken Trail,’ ‘Hell on Wheels’ and decades of films from The Duke, Clint and so many more,” said Charlie Collier, who is currently the president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “We are so pleased to add to that list another season of our original, multi-generational drama from Philipp Meyer, Kevin Murphy and a remarkable cast led by the incomparable Pierce Brosnan. It’s our longstanding mission to super-serve Westerns fans on weekends and we look forward to continuing this epic next year. Welcome home, Son.”

Although ratings are kind of mixed at the moment, the show has got an opportunity to work on whatever was found to be holding it back and to improve what was already said to be good and alluring.
