Samsung W2017 Android Flip Phone Launched for China

In November 2015, Samsung introduced the dual-display Android flip phone W2016 for the Chinese market. Although this category was not so popular among smartphones, it was different and it offered more options to the customers. The W2017 will come instead of the W2016 and just like its predecessor it will only be available in China.

The dual-SIM Samsung W2017 has appeared on the website of the company. The new phone will use Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and it will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 SoC. Furthermore, the phone will be equipped with two 4.2-inch Super AMOLED displays with full-HD. The resolution of the display is 1080×1920 pixels, whereas the phone will have 4GB of RAM.

In addition, the phone comes with a 12MP rear camera with a f/1.7 aperture and flash. The camera supports 4K video recording and it has a 5MP front shooter with a f/1.9 aperture. The phone has 64GB of internal storage, but you can always insert a microSD card with maximum 256GB. The phone comes with various connectivity collection such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1 and Micro-USB port. The Micro-USB port also serves as a headphone jack. The 2300mAh battery is inserted in the device and it can withstand 64 hours on standby.

The new phone is 61.4mm wide, 127.8mm high and 15.8mm thick and it weighs only 208 grams. The W2017 can use fast wireless charging and it also comes with a fingerprint scanner. You can find sensors such as heart rate sensor, gyroscope and ambient light sensor. Furthermore, the phone is equipped with accelerometer, magnetometer, and barometer.

According to a Sammobile report, the price of the W2017 should be around CNY 20,000 ($2960). However, the company is yet to announce the pricing.
