The South Korean tech giant has officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus, and the pair has been immediately placed among the best smartphones on the market. According to several reports coming directly from Samsung, the company has already pre-sold 728,000 units, and they want to reach 1 million before the April 21, when the phones will officially go on sale.
The new Galaxy S8 is definitely a good phone for business people, but even for those who want to use it for fun, to take pictures or do something else. Here are several reasons why the new phones from Samsung are better than the Apple’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
The display of the Galaxy S8 Plus brings 6.2 inches diagonal, and there are no side and bottom bezels. In addition, the Samsung’s device is narrower than the iPhone 7 Plus which boasts a 5.5-inch screen, and according to the independent testing, the display of the Galaxy S8 is the highest rated of all smartphones.
Fast and Wireless Charging
The battery life tests have yet to be conducted for the Galaxy S8/S8 Plus, but it takes only a few minutes to recharge (not fully, of course) your phone using the USB Type-C port or a wireless dock. Charging the iPhone 7 Plus can be frustrating at times and if you seek better battery life, the Galaxy S8 Plus is a better choice.
Apple offers three memory configurations with the largest capacity of 256 GB, which is more than enough for the majority of people. On the other hand, the Galaxy S8 Plus comes with 64GB of internal storage and a possibility to expand it with a microSD card.
Gorilla Glass 5
The new S8 will come with the glass on the front and back side compared to the Apple’s iPhone 7 which has metal on the back cover. The Gorilla Glass 5 is capable of surviving a 1.6-meter drop, and it offers better protection to your device.
Multiple Security Options
There are several ways to unlock your Galaxy S8 – face recognition, fingerprint, PIN, password, pattern and iris scanning. Not all of these are perfect, but its iris scanner is perhaps a more convenient and secure than iPhone 7’s fast fingerprint scanner.
With the new feature called Samsung DeX, the owners can leave their laptops behind, because you can transform your phone into a desktop computer by connecting peripherals like keyboard, monitor and mouse. This feature can be rather useful and the rivalry Apple doesn’t offer such a convenience.
The virtual reality on Samsung devices keeps getting better and better, and it has once again been improved with a handheld controller now included with the Gear VR. You can use VR for presenting virtual walkthroughs of engineering designs or interactive presentations and not only for games and media viewing.
Samsung Bixby is supposed to improve the efficiency and productivity of the user, and although its voice assistant will not be ready at the launch, it should make the life easier for the users. It is a promising feature that is only going to improve.
New Galaxy phones are the pioneers when it comes to Bluetooth 5.0 support. With the Bluetooth 5.0, the connectivity and range should be improved, while you will be able to connect two Bluetooth headphones to one Galaxy S8 simultaneously.
Both Apple Pay and Samsung Pay are popular. However, the latter offers the greater number of retail locations supported and the tech which allows you to replace your credit or debit cards. In addition, the company offers lots of promotions in order to encourage the Samsung Pay use.
Removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 was a courageous and an evolutionary move, but people still use the 3.5mm connector. It is just a convenient way to connect your earphones, and it is available on new Samsung phones.
Frankly speaking, we will have to wait for the new Apple iPhones this September and see how they stack up against the new Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus.
