Going into the Hell in a Cell pay per view, Kevin Owens was probably the superstar that people wanted to see the most. After getting into a good storyline with Shane McMahon and the Chairman himself Vince McMahon, he was put in a great position. It is always great to be involved with the CEO of the WWE in a storyline. When he takes a huge bump for you, it means that the company believes in your abilities.
Then, the WWE kind of forgot about him during the Survivor Series build. Well, they forgot about Sami Zayn as well as he was also scorching hot coming out of that HIAC event when he helped Owens and turned heel on Shane. They didn’t have anything good for these guys going on over the past couple of months which was frustrating for the duo.
One of their friends also got fired from the company which caused them to go off the script during one edition of Smackdown Live. After that, they were sent home from the European tour. WWE didn’t want to make a big deal out of that, and no public statements were made.
A couple of weeks later, it seems that Kevin Owens doesn’t have any backstage heat on him. His documentary even drew huge numbers which is something that helped him no doubt.
On the other hand, it seems that Sami Zayn was the one who was more vocal backstage between the two and he still has some heat on him for what he did and how he acted. We will have to wait and see whether or not this affects the way he is going to be booked going forward.
