Rush Hour 4: Jackie Chan Confirmed It’s Happening

After a break of ten years from the Rush Hour franchise, Jackie Chan made a confirmation that it will be back once again. The original Rush Hour was the moment this Asian actor broke through in the U.S. In the story, a Hong Kong cop played by Chan joins a U.S. detective played by Chris Tucker so that they could solve a case of a kidnap. As for the plot, it was not that exceptional, but it was Tucker’s sense of humor and Chan’s acting skills that made this movie into a hit.

There were two installments in 2001 and 2007. The third Rush Hour was set in Paris where Lee and Carter were clowning around, so the critics were unenthusiastic, in comparison to previous sequels. Regardless of all that, the franchise was still adored by the viewers because of the one of a kind chemistry between Tucker and Chan, so the fans have been asking for another movie for quite some time.

In one of his interviews, Chan confirmed the whole thing.

“Good news. Next year, Rush Hour 4, and I hope the script done. And day after tomorrow we meet the director and Chris Tucker again to make sure we go the right track.”

Despite the fact that Chan did not say who that director is, most probably he thinks of Brett Ratner who was responsible for the previous movies. Surely, having Chan and Tucker reunited would be so much fun, but hopefully, movie number four will have a fresh angle. The third sequel seemed like a sloppy recap of the previous escapades, and the stars did not seem to be too thrilled to be a part of it. In 2016, there was a Rush Hour TV series, but it has proven that without Chan and Tucker it just doesn’t feel right.

We hope that the script will be interesting to Chan, because he made a confession about the Rush Hour series, saying that he doesn’t really like it, although it was decently successful. When he finished Rush Hour 3, he said: “Nothing particularly exciting stood out that made this movie special for me…I spent four months making this film and I still don’t fully understand the humor.”

It was probably the fans and a lot of cash that kept him coming back. Lets’ hope that the incoming movie Rush Hour 4, which still doesn’t have a release date will be worth the wait.
