This edition of Monday Night Raw was decent and probably better than it usually is. After the live show from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson made an appearance, calling up CM Punk on the phone in the middle of the ring.
Johnson was not on this week’s episode of Raw, but he was at the Staples Center to film a scene from the upcoming movie Fighting With My Family, which is about the life of professional wrestler Saraya-Jade Bevis, which is the real name of women’s superstar Paige. After Raw, the film’s producers recreated a match between Paige and AJ Lee for the movie.
As soon as AJ Lees name was mentioned, fans at the Staples Center began to chant “CM Punk,” as AJ Lee is the wife of his in real life. Dwyane Johnson wanted to give the fans what they wanted and decided to call up CM Punk on his cell phone in the middle of the ring. Unfortunately, Punk did not answer the phone, but Johnson did leave a voicemail.
“Hey Punk, it’s the Rock,” Johnson said. “This is not a joke. I’m literally calling you from the middle of the Staples Center… they are chanting your name.”
Johnson tried to FaceTime Punk but was apparently unable to reach him due to poor Wi-Fi.
CM Punk took this to the Twitter, saying that he was walking his dog when all that was happening, but that “It was nice hearing from you,” of course talking about the fans chanting his name.
