River is a television drama which was released on October 13, 2015, on BBC. A month later it debuted on Netflix. This British TV series portrays the life of a gifted police officer, whom murder victims visions haunt and make him investigate these cases or otherwise won’t leave him in peace. Abi Morgan is both the creator and executive producer of the TV Show.

When it comes to the reviews from critics and viewers, they are both quite favorable. The drama series has a score of 7.7 out of 10 on Metacritic, based on 7 user ratings. On IMDB it has a mark of 8.3 out of 10 according to more than 2,200 user votes, 30 reviews from viewers and 5 from critics. In the meantime, “The Telegraph” gave the TV series 5 stars out of 5. The pilot episode directed by Richard Laxton attracted 6 million viewers. This is a quite impressive result. Only bad thing about River is that the first season had only 6 episodes.

Plot & Summary

The storyline of the series revolves around Detective Inspector John River whose character is portrayed by Stellan Skarsgård. Namely, he desperately tries to investigate the murder of his female partner which recently happened. Moreover, his search for the murderer gets complicated because he is haunted by visions of the victims of his other cases, which disturbs him in the most important search to him. Not only does he face with ghosts, but with the pressure of the media as well.

The first season of “River” debuted on October 13, 2015, and ended on November 17, 2015. At this moment neither BBC One nor Netflix have said anything officially on the renewal or possible cancellation of the TV Show. If we look into universal acclaim and amazing television rating, we have every right to hope for its sequel. Let’s hope that studio delivers confirmation regarding the continuation of the story and that we will be watching River Season 2 as soon as possible.
