Redskins And Cousins Choke Away Postseason Berth, Maybe Even A Big Deal In The Offseason

The Washington Redskins have choked. There are no ifs, and or buts about it. The fact of the matter is that this team is just unable to perform at the high level when the stakes get high, and the lights shine the brightest. They have done that on opening Monday Night Football, the same can be said for their MNF game against Carolina a couple of weeks ago.

Today, they failed to score a single point until the closing seconds of the third quarter. In a match in which you either win, and you are in the Playoffs, or you lose, and you are out, that is pathetic. Kirk Cousins has great stats and has had a career year, when we look back at his season, it was a pretty good one. But, when we take a look at what Washington didn’t do, especially in the final duel of the season, his stats completely fall down in the water. Meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Redskins were down 10-0 before they hit a chip shot Field Goal to end the third quarter. Cousins then led a nice TD drive to tie the game, but then the defense gave up a huge play which resulted in Giants three points. In the final drive in which Washington was advancing the ball nicely, Kirk Cousins threw a season-ending pick. In the biggest moments of the season, he and his squad have choked. There is just no other way around it.

Cousins will be a free agent this offseason. Even though his numbers and production are there, Washington will have to think long and hard about whether or not they should sign him to a long, big deal for the next few years.
