Being known for his unshakable work ethic and high commitment to his job, Dwayne Johnson, also known by his ring name The Rock, has become an omnipresent icon in today’s pop culture. At the moment, Johnson spends a lot of time working on the ongoing Jumanji production (which will be released in December 2017), as well as on Ballers Season 3 (his HBO TV Show), on top of that, he is promoting more movies set to arrive the next year. It is possible that this man has few clones as he will take on the lead role of a muscle-bound hero in Shane Black’s Doc Savage once they start filming this TV adaptation.

Johnson is also expected to star in several other films which are currently just in a pre-production stage of development. Some of them are Disney’s Jungle Cruise, which is inspired by the popular attraction in Disneyland Park, the reboot of 1986’s fantasy action Big Trouble in Little China (directed by John Carpenter) and the sequel to the Brad Peyton’s disaster film San Andreas. However, Rampage will most likely be the first of all of these movies that The Rock is going to star in.

According to Deadline, Rampage release date has been set for April 20, 2018, which means that the upcoming videogame-based action will follow the Universal Monster Franchise Film, the title of which has not been announced yet. What we do know is that it will open in U.S. theaters two weeks before Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, scheduled for the beginning of May 2018.

The title of the movie itself suggests its storyline – three monsters go on the rampage in U.S. cities, destroying the monuments and causing great disruption. Such plot could be expected, taking into consideration the nature of the video game the film is based on (an arcade game first released in 1986 by Bally Midway). Johnson’s collaborators on San Andreas are again in charge of this movie as well – Brad Peyton is the director and Carlton Cuse is the co-writer.

Besides the information on Rampage, Deadline also brings news about Warner Bros.’s plans for the year 2018 – the release of the third reboot of the 1937’s romantic drama A Star is Born, this time directed by Bradley Cooper. Not only is Cooper in charge of directing the film, but he also takes the lead role of a movie star who is at the end of his career, but decides to help an aspiring young singer. Lady Gaga plays the female lead, and, in addition to this, she will produce the movie’s soundtrack. A Star is Born will debut in cinemas on September 28, 2018, one week after Hotel Transylvania 3 and the Scooby-Doo reboot.
