Based on the classic 1980’s video game and starring the world’s currently highest-paid actor Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Rampage is still in pre-production, as its release date is set for spring next year. That’s what we have received about the upcoming movie so far, but now The Rock reveals more details. First of all, we have learned that they will start filming Rampage in April this year, but we now also know something more about Johnson’s character.

After the six-hour long script session with the Rampage writers, the actor decided to share some pieces of information with us on his Instagram account. Much to everyone’s delight, he confirmed that the filming will start very soon, which was questionable up to this moment, considering the fact that Johnson already has enough on his plate. Take a look at his post and find out the latest news about the movie.

“Spent my Friday night at our Warner Bros offices in a 6hr script session with these rampaging rockstars. Our Rampage (next movie I’ll make) writers, producers, director and star (occasionally me). Even though this took us deep into Friday night and we all have families and stuff to do – this kind of meeting is so critical to our movie’s success. Everyone’s instincts were firing on the highest of levels. My fav moment from this merciless 6hr meeting was when I shared with this group that there’s an equity and trust I’ve built with my audience that they trust me to take them on an epic ride, and always do our best to send them home happy.”

Dwayne Johnson continued and added “A very cool moment to see everyone’s eyes light and heads start to nod. To win on any level you gotta have teamwork and collaboration and cant thank everyone enough in this room for their energy and focus. You truly helped us move the needle. And Wendy Jane you’re Superwoman for your creative brilliance and putting up with all these dumb-guy jokes. Not me of course, I’m a gentleman. Next stop for me in my research – the Primate division at the Atlanta Zoo (my character’s a Primatologist & head of an anti-poaching unit in Rwanda). Really informative and educational character to play and project to work on. More to come. Start shooting this April. #Rampage”

In case you are not familiar with the Rampage game, we should mention that the game’s plot was not that elaborated, which means the Rampage movie team will have to put some effort and include more details. The game’s focus was on three characters: Lizzy (a big lizard), Ralph (a werewolf) and George (an ape). For the time being, we can only conclude that Johnson’s character in the movie will bear at least some similarity to George from the game.

Rampage movie will be directed by Brad Peyton (“San Andreas” 2015). Furthermore, it has been rumored that Naomie Harris (“Moonlight” and “Skyfall”) will take part in the upcoming film. What is known for sure is that Rampage is set to hit the theaters on April 20, 2018.
