ZTE coming up with low cost smartwatch

Prior to QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) device makers such as Sony, Samsung and Pebble have also launched their smart watches. In the future, Apple, Google and ZTE are also rumored to launch their own watches.

ZTE is looking forward to launch a low cost version of smartwatch, which does not seem to be exciting news for tech fans. However, ZTE is expected to come up with a design and features, which can motivate others to instill same features into their smart watches.

Lu Qianhao, head of the ZTE marketing strategy said that ZTE is “focusing on the mainstream market” with its high tech wrist watch, which the company is planning to launch in the starting of next year before the second quarter. ZTE is planning to launch its smartwatch in China followed by North America and European markets.  ZTE smartwatch will be limited only to ZTE smartphones just like Samsung Galaxy smartwatches that are compatible only with Samsung Galaxy phones. However, the company is planning to launch another version of the watch that would be compatible with Android handsets.

ZTE smartwatch will have specifications like notification for incoming messages, such as calls, texts, emails and alerts, and delivers a preview of those messages. The device is sporting 1.9 megapixel camera and can make hands free call through inbuilt speakers.
