Believe it or not, it’s been almost six years since the release of Portal 2 and we’re still waiting for its sequel. We can name as many as five reasons for our wait:
THE HTC VIVE NEEDS BETTER GAMES
We must admit that we are impressed by room-scale VR from the HTC Vive, but something is still lacking. Although Valve provides all the software for this one, there is hardly some content apart from The Labs, which comes free with every Vive purchase. Portal 3 would be a great start, wouldn’t it?
THE END OF PORTAL 2 IS A MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER
As we know, after the final boss fight, Chell is left in the field thanks to GlaDOS who saved her. But what are we left with? We don’t even know what is to happen next. Does Chell still have a Portal Gun? Are the Combine there? Whose farm is that?
THAT HTC VIVE TRAILER AND DEMO ARE JUST TOO MUCH TEASE
Along with a glimpse of the lately released HTC Vive the trailer carried with itself much emotional excitement for another reason. We can see in the trailer a woman wearing the same clothing as Chell in Portal 1 and 2. Each fan of the game was elated because Portal would be amazing in VR.
VALVE FILED A PORTAL 3 TRADEMARK AGES AGO
Although there hasn’t been any official statement from Valve that it would be working on Portal 3 or whether there would be Portal 3 at all, it filed a trademark with the Trademarks and Design Registration Office of the European Union (OHIM) in 2013. No one would make sure that the name is properly secured and waste money for no reason if they do not want to use it.
IT COULD LAUNCH WITH HALF-LIFE 3
Due to the state Chell was found in at the end of Portal 2, there have been many speculations that Portal 3 and Half-Life 3 will be united in a big game. We cannot be looking more forward to seeing it happen.
