Novak Djokovic Back In Belgrade Serbia, Will Represent The Country At Davis Cup In September

After the disappointing performance at the French Open, Novak Djokovic returned to Belgrade, Serbia with his wife, Jelena. He was defeated by Dominic Thiem and “earned” himself an unexpected holiday which he decided to spend in his country.

When he arrived, Novak immediately posted photos with the comments: “Happy to be back to my home country! Beautiful, green Serbia ❤” and “My Belgrade from the sky. Warms my heart and soul each time.”

The Djokovic family will be in Serbia one week as Novak is supposed to start with the preparation on the grass courts. He will have enough time to rest and to prepare for Wimbledon which is going to start on July 3rd, and it will last until July 16th. After the French Open loss, Djokovic announced that he would compete at one tournament before the Grand Slam in London takes place.

Meanwhile, his wife Jelena will go back to Monte Carlo, where she is going to give birth to their second child. Her due date is in August.

There is also great news for Serbian tennis fans. After the Davis Cup quarterfinal match against Spain, Novak confirmed that he will represent Serbia in semi-final round versus France, scheduled for September. What was just a rumor before is now official and Novak will try to lead Serbia to victory in the city of Lille.

Besides Novak Djokovic, the Serbian national team will consist of Viktor Troicki, Janko Tipsarevic, Nenad Zimonjic, Dusan Lajovic and Filip Krajinovic but there is always a possibility for the coach to invite some of the youngsters to the squad in order to gain a much-needed experience. Before the beginning of the Davis Cup, Novak Djokovic announced that he would compete in all big tournaments – the aforementioned Wimbledon, the Rodgers Cup in Montreal, Cincinnati and the US Open.
