Earlier this year, several reports claimed that Nokia, which was the largest mobile phone company in the world, would make a comeback. As Rajeev Suri, the CEO of Nokia confirmed, they were supposed to produce Android-based smartphones. Later in the year, they officially announced that they will re-enter the fruitful smartphone market. We now have the reason to believe that Nokia will be back because Nokia D1C arrived on the benchmarking site.

Benchmarking tool called Geekbench was the first place where new device Nokia D1C appeared. There, you can see that it has been tested five times so far and the scores are decent. The highest single-core score was 682 whereas the highest multi-core score was 3,299. To get some insight we compared Nokia D1C to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Galaxy managed to record 1,782 points in the single-core test and 4,471 in the multi-core tests, which means that new Nokia will probably be a mid-range device.

On Geekbench we can also see some of the specification of the Nokia D1C. It uses a 1.4 GHz octa chop processor with 3GB of RAM. It also has Snapdragon 430 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU. The model number of the Snapdragon 430 SoC is MSM 8937. Unfortunately, we don’t know any other information regarding the phone. Rumors are circulating, however, that the Nokia D1C will be dust and waterproof.

Moreover, rumor has it that this will not be the only handset from Nokia. It is expected that they launch several devices including a state-of-the-art flagship Nokia-branded Android smartphone which will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip.

Will Nokia be able to come back on the phone market and once again become one of the greats in the industry? We will have to wait and see, but meanwhile feel free to state your opinion of the matter.
