It is not hard to be nice and polite. This should be something quite normal for most people, but still, there are people that think they are smarter and above others. Public transportation is often a place where we can see people behaving badly and the image we show you here is one of the best examples of that.

There are many rules that are not written in stone but should be respected so we can only encourage others to behave nicely and treat others with respect.

Among those things that you should always do is to give your seat to the passengers that really need it. This implies in case if all seats are occupied and if you are healthy and able, you definitely should let pregnant women, young kids, elderly people and the disabled to sit on your spot.

On this image, we can notice something very strange. Three, able body guys (at least they look like they are able) are sitting while a pregnant woman is standing.

Give us your thoughts about this and other situations you witnessed.

  1. Really men commenting does she look like she wants to be standing!!! And to the person that posted maybe they can’t tell she’s pregnant she’s wearing a coat be real are they blind
This could have been your Mom carrying you !!!!!!

  2. i don’t care if they know she is pregnant or not. a man should always give his seat to a woman. why? she may not know she is pregnant yet. there is logic for manners. elderly- sudden stop may kill them. disabled-do not have the ability to function like you. i am 71 years old and a female and i would give her my seat. the courtesy is to the baby not the mother.

  3. Why I stopped riding. I can’t stand long. When back started hurting, I ask to sit down. A young lady would give me her seat

  4. Well in all honest has anyone look at Japans train. And its always no mattered if you are old, pregnant or disabled. First one arrived has a seat and the others can stand. In which many case. I dont offer. But if you need the seat ask. I’m not a kind of person that asks anything. Ontop of that you don’t know the state thr men are in. As for the picture. It might be just a stunt which is fairly disgusting people that are spreading lies. However the thing with chivalry. Its dying out. And the “feminazis” 3rd wave of feminism is to blame. But in the end everyone has their own perspectives.

  5. I the only one who noticed that it looks like the photographer has a seat also? Why didn’t they give her their seat instead of snapping pictures & pointing fingers? So they aren’t going to give up their seat, but shame on those boys for not giving theirs up? Be what you want to see in the world, instead of expecting others to do it instead.

  6. You see this all the time in the UK. The elderly, disabled and expecting mothers all standing. It’s nothing to do with sexism or feminism. It’s about a lack of manners being taught. You never see this in Europe or other countries. It disgusts me. About time this was addressed with youngsters before it’s too late.

  7. The problem isn’t “these” days, in 1971 I was 8 months pregnant going to work on the train and no one offered me their seat, I was dumbfounded after about 20 minutes a “gentleman” offered me his seat before sitting down, I gratefully took it.

  8. I use public transit and am ‘elderly’. At times I have had to ask someone to give up their seat. At times I have watched young, able bodied males looking at their cell phones, totally ignoring elderly people or pregnant women. As a rule, if I am offered a seat, it is generally a young woman. I am ignoring the feminist if favour of people just being polite which doesn’t cost anything.

  9. And jumping to conclusis seems to be quite the problem also.If youl notice the pregnant lady is smiling not perturbed. And she also may be on a short jontwith only 30 seconds of wait.Perception is everything. Before condeming the gentlement find the facts.Yes shes pregnant.yes shes standing. But then comes the whys she smiling. And why isnt she mesirable.Remember aassuming things doesnt make it so.

  10. Maybe they don’t even know she’s pregnant and she’s facing away and wearing a big coat. Why doesn’t she just ask to sit? How do we know she even wants to sit? How do we know there aren’t other seats that are free on the train?

  11. I think we have a problem these days. Some feminist women would look upon it as patronising, if offered a seat. Another awkward one would be to offer a woman a seat, because she’s apparently pregnant, but she isn’t!

  12. I would question if this lady was actually asked if she wanted to sit, and also you are presuming that the men sitting are not disabled in some way, I am a disabled man and would always offer a seat to a pregnant lady, but they don’t always want to sit. What I am saying is a picture does not alway tell a total story, I don’t think it’s very fair to post this without more proof.

  13. That’s nothing new. I has happened to me when I was PG. In fact on a stalled train for about one/half hour I had to start walking between cars and it was better than standing so long and feeling my back ache. No one got up – was thinking of sliding down on the floor to sit, but figured I’d never get up since I was due in one month from that time.

  14. Only places with subways are liberal party majority. And that’s what Liberals are best at self entitled crap. Conservative men would all have gotten up for her. Because Conservative men are men. Unlike gender confused liberals.

  15. This is only a photo of a
Specific instance; what happened before or just afterwards is unknown. What was done it said or thought is also neither documented for the ‘viewer’ to make a rational and reasonable opinion…… Yes folk don’t get up for others in more need!! But this is bullying/coherence and unfair. Freedom of speech but this photo can say What it is not taken like this!!

  16. What if they offered and she said no? I mean, it is possible you know. I suppose it is easier to just look at a picture and jump to conclusions though and then share it on Facebook with the ‘mad face’ emoticon.

I think most people would offer.

  17. Remove the “No gentlemen” tag then post then picture. A lot of jumping to conclusions and innuendo. Maybe he’s a disabled vet and one guy is sick and she is being considerate. Maybe this is her stop and is waiting for the door to open. Maybe she was offered a seat and refused. And just maybe the guys are jerks. There is a definate shortage of manners today. But are manners outdated and belong to a different era? Then again if a women is an independent feminist and there is no difference, can you have it both ways?
