Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) always tries to do things differently and leaves examples for competitors to follow. The electric car maker now is changing the way people buy cars. It has a car store in the huge new mall at University Town Center, which is scheduled for opening on 17 October at Sarasota. The mall situated on University Parkway at I-75 has more than 100 stores and restaurants and of those one unique store is one that sells all-electric luxury cars.

Tesla changing perceptions

The store is similar to any clothing boutique or a hair salon in size, and we can find Tesla Model S sedans placed in the middle of the store. We can see a frame of cars next to the complete cars, which has an appearance similar to that of a car. It has nothing above the tires and floorboards. The cutaway car has been put in the store to give the potential buyers a view inside the electric car so that they analyze the difference between an ordinary car running on fuel and an electric one. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) car has lots of ‘guts’ as it doesn’t have any transmission, no exhaust pipes, and a motor no bigger than a watermelon.

“At Tesla, our objective is to educate you, first and foremost, about electric vehicle technology — what it’s like to live with one of these cars, own them, and drive them every single day,” Tesla Motors’ Alexis Georgeson told.

Many options to choose from

The store has samples of paint and interior options along the walls. Touch-screens are also there using which the prospective buyers can design a Tesla for themselves. They will be able to choose from the multiple design options available, and from the touchscreen display the buyers can order their desired car straightaway. The buyers can also test drive the car in the parking lot.

The sales style adopted by Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is a significant change from the typical dealership that has a big car lot and big pressure, as well.  This style will surely gain popularity among the youth for various car models – even those that don’t cost as much as $70,000.
