Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)’s Resellers Switch to Office 365 To Compete With Google Inc (GOOG) Apps

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has just announced a new deal, with SkyKick, a company which offers Office 365 Migration Suite. The reason between the new partnership between the two is to help Microsoft Resellers to move their businesses to native Microsoft made product, Office Suite 365. SkyKick as part of the agreement with MSFT, will migrate businesses free of cost via its Office 365 Migration suite.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) plan will allow the partners to use products made by the software giant free of cost. The plan is to move all of the businesses office document collateral such as folders, files and saved message as well as contacts and user settings to Office 365. SkyKick predicts that the process would be time-consuming and would need as much as a week to transfer documents from ‘regular offline Office to Office 365’ for a company as small as 25 employees.

New Strategy For Office 360

The reason behind the migration plan is a new strategy that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is exploring with its resellers. According to general manager of Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Group, Gavriella Schuster, resellers who use Office 365 are ‘three times more successful in selling it.’

It has been reported that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) will grab nearly 80% of Microsoft’s Office users, due to the sophistication of its Google Apps.

The percentage of small as well as medium sized businesses which are relying on Google Apps for most of their office processes is considered to be high. Additionally, the number of users willingly migrating to the platform is found to be increasing. Therefore it is important for Microsoft to have an effective plan to fight back the growth of Google Apps.

Business Insiders reveal the free migration plan appears to be working, as the number of Office 365 users is allegedly at faster rates.
