Daimler AG Board Chairman and Mercedes-Benz Head Dr. Dieter Zetsche said:”With the Mercedes-Benz pickup, we will close one of the last gaps in our portfolio. Our target: we want to offer customers vehicles matching their specific needs. The X-Class will set new standards in a growing segment.”

Mercedes-Benz Vans Head, Volker Mornhinweg added:”We will open up and change the segment of mid-size pickups – with the world’s first true premium pickup for the modern urban lifestyle. Our future X-Class will be a pickup that knows no compromise. Ladder-type frame, high-torque six-cylinder engine, and permanent all-wheel drive are compulsory for us. As an added value we bring safety, comfort, agility, and expressive design – in other words, everything that distinguishes vehicles bearing the Mercedes star. We will thus appeal to new customers who have not considered owning a pickup before.”

The new ute will be presented in the last couple of months in 2017. Just for the record, the German carmaker introduced two new pick-ups in Stockholm, Sweden.

One of them is called the Stylish Explorer and it is equipped with chrome body details and 22-inch light alloy wheels. According to the company this vehicle is a basic model of how the future production pick-ups will look. This means that the trucks will have AMG-GT styling elements and they will look more aggressive.

The other truck is named Powerful Adventurer and as its name implies, the truck is intended for rough roads and terrains. The 35×11.50 tires provide 1.9-meter stature, and overall this truck looks fashionable, but a bit different.
