The last year has been fruitful when it comes to the movie industry which offered constant releases and novelties, with each month bringing something new. This has logically increased the number of illegally downloaded movies from the Internet.
TorrentFreak has given its annual list of 10 most downloaded films on BitTorrent, and while some of the films were quite easy to predict to take place on this list, some came as quite of a surprise.
10. The Revenant
This movie was so eagerly awaited by the audience, that it comes as no surprise that its name is on the list. Even before its appearance, there were rumors that Leonardo would be nominated and most likely get Oscar for the part. Probably that was the reason the movie was so sought-after.
9. Finding Dory
Another animated movie in 2016, Finding Dory was highly popular on Torrent. Like the previous film, this one also went well at box office, but the fact is that many people were interested more in watching it from the comfort of their homes.
This movie was a big commercial success, although it was not well received by the critics. This could maybe be the reason for its appearance on its list, but it cannot be said for certain.
7. Independence Day: Resurgence
The movie that did not make much of a profit if we take that it made only $387 million on the international level compared its $165 million budget. But it certainly found its safe place on its list.
6. Warcraft
This one shares the similar destiny as the previous one, regarding its performance at the box office. By all odds, the audience enjoyed downloading it from the Internet.
Although it is found on its list, the movie succeeded in making quite a success in the theaters. It did not meet much of the approval by the critics, but that did not stand on its way for earning $543 million worldwide.
4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
This movie was a monster hit when it comes to its popularity. It earned $2.1 billion on the international level, so it is no wonder for being found on this list.
Comic book movies were apparently highly popular on Torrent in the course of the last year which is also seen in this example.
2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Also not that well approved by the critics, it is somehow clear why most people chose to download it instead of paying for watching. But the movie was immensely popular upon its release that there are for sure many examples of those who decided to download it after watching it on big screens.
1. Deadpool
Most of you have probably assumed which movie hit the number one on this list. Of course, that film is Tim Miller’s Deadpool. It was released at the beginning of the previous year, so it had plenty of time to be downloaded so many times. However, its enormous popularity cannot be neglected when it comes to these high rankings.
