The Key To New York Knicks Future Success

New York Knicks are looking like a complete mess. Ever since they lost to the Boston Celtics on Christmas day, they haven’t looked like a quality squad that can compete for the Playoffs. Their defense is broken, and players are just not performing. It seems like this is going to be another season to forget for the Knicks fans.

They did have some high hopes because of their offseason pickups like Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Courtney Lee. Right now, they are not performing and meeting those expectations. So, what should the New York Knicks do going forward?

Well, this is perhaps not what the Knicks fans want to hear, but they need to clear the deck and get off everyone except Kristaps Porzingis. It’s clear that he is the future of the franchise, but the rest of guys need to go. Carmelo Anthony needs to chase that title somewhere else as it’s pretty much obvious that he is not going to win one in New York.

Joakim Noah‘s contract is one of the worst in the NBA as the Knicks signed him to a four-year big money deal. That’s the worst thing that you can do when it comes to aging, injury-prone players that are past their prime. Rose will demand a lot of money in the offseason, and the Knicks are better without having him taking a lot of their cap space.

They need to clear the deck. This is not working, and they need some draft picks and young guys that will get them going. Phil Jackson needs to make this happen. The first step is to make Melo waive his no-trade clause and trade him for some draft choices.
