John Cena’s Return Date Revealed

John Cena has last appeared on WWE TV when he proposed to his longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando after their win against The Miz and Maryse. After that, he hasn’t shown up on Smackdown Live as he was out taping the shows and all the other work that he now has outside of the WWE.

There is no doubt that Cena wouldn’t miss WWE’s biggest show of the summer, so we knew that he was going to be back with the company sometime in July. Summerslam is at the end of the August, and this guy needs to get into the storyline as soon as possible in order to build up the match that he is going to be in before Summerslam.

He has confirmed that he is going to make his return on July the 4th during Smackdown Live. That is going to mark three full months since he has been last seen on the WWE TV. When he makes his return, it is going to be interesting to see what kind of role will he have and what kind of an opponent is he going to get.

He might be the one to open up that July 4th show, or he might be the one to make some kind of a save or to interrupt someone. If he is going to be the one to open up the event, the chances are that we are going to see Shinsuke Nakamura show up later and the feud might start right there. If he is going to be the one to make some kind of a save, we believe that it is going to be against Jinder Mahal. Those are two most likely opponents for Summerslam. It is probably going to be either Mahal for the championship or Nakamura.
