John Cena Talks About Meeting The Rock Before Wrestlemania

If you didn’t know John Cena and Dwayne The Rock Johnson knew each other long before they crossed paths in WWE ring. Many people are only aware of their wrestling duels, with most notable ones happening at Wrestlemania 28 and 29. But as we said, they had an encounter before Cena started his WWE adventure.

The two had a meeting before John Cena was even scheduled to become a part of world’s most fabulous wrestling caravan. According to his words, People’s Champ was very ‘candid’ to him. The leader of Cenation gave an interview to The Wrap and talked about Brahman Bull: “I sat down with him, and we shared a special moment long before I stepped into a ring, he gave me his time, and he was very kind and candid in his conversation. It is something I will never forget.”

The interview happened before Nickelodeon’s ‘Kid’s Choice Awards.’ Cena was a host for the second time in a row, while Dwayne was nominated for ‘Favorite Movie Actor’ in Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. He won, easily!

But, back to the wrestling. The WM score between these two is tied, as both won a single duel at the biggest stage of them all. Regardless of their in-ring animosity Cena stated that he looks up to Dwayne Johnson. Many people are pulling parallels between the two, and with a reason. Both started as college football players, went into wrestling, and ended up in Hollywood.

John is aware of this, but he’s also humble saying that two men are similar but that The Rock is a few levels above him: “The Rock is in a conversation by himself. He is an anomaly; he’s done unbelievable things in the world of sports and entertainment.”

The Doctor of Thuganomics continued by saying: “There is only one man even involved in that conversation and it is him, he sets the bar rather high. It’s guys like that who not only work hard but use their platform. He is unbelievably gifted at using social media to spread the fact that hard work is how you achieve success. Hard work is also how you achieve significance.”

In the end, The Champ added: “He inspires a lot of people, I don’t think he understands the depth of how much. He is someone I look up to — so if I look up to him, there’s no way we can be in the same conversation.”

While Dwayne Johnson stays fully committed to his movie career, John Cena is still rooted in WWE. He’s actually expected to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 34. At the same time, it is unclear if Johnson will find time to make an appearance in New Orleans on April 8th.
