Jimmy Garoppolo Shines In First Half For Patriots But Gets Injured And Is Ruled Out

Jimmy Garoppolo looked great against the Dolphins. He had thrown for 234 yards and 3 TDs in the first half before he got injured and left the field. He was 18/27, and the Pats were up 21:0 while getting near the red zone.

Jacoby Brissett’s number was called in New England, but Bill Belichick decided that Blount should get more touches as he didn’t let rookie QB have the room to make mistakes. On the first Pats drive in the second half, Blount scored a touchdown to give the Patriots a 31:3 lead.

Now the Patriots have to wait and hope that Jimmy Garoppolo is good to go for Thursday’s game against the Texans. If he is unable to play, Brissett will most likely get to start against Houston.

Garoppolo is only Tom Brady’s placeholder this season. If he is out for more than two weeks, Patriots just need to go 1-1 in their last two games without Brady to remain in control of the AFC East and to be a contender for playoffs.

Bill Belichick will most likely go out and get another QB, but it’s hard to guess if he will get good enough replacement before the start on Thursday or if he will just be a backup to their third stringer Jacoby Brissett. If he also gets injured, Belichick will likely put Julian Edelman at Quarterback as he played that position when he was at Kent State.
