Japanese Luxury Train – Here is What It Is Like

Trains are one of the most popular means of transport especially when you travel abroad. They are not expensive, and they are fast and comfortable. However, if you prefer to travel in luxury, East Japan Railway Company produced the Train Suite Shiki-Shima which provide a whole new experience of riding a train.

The fares are going between $6,700 and $12,000 per ticket and depending on a distance you travel it lasts between two and four days. Instead of cramped seats, you get semi-private suites, tremendous meals and sightseeing excursions on a daily basis. The first passengers rode the train on May first covering a distance between Tokyo and the northern island of Hokkaido, according to Mashable.

This train suite is exclusive in every sense of this word, and only 34 passengers can be on per trip. Even though it is extremely costly, Shiki-Shima has already been sold out through March 2018. Because of the high demand, the company’s heads decided to award the tickets for April through June of next year through a lottery.

When you enter, the first thing you see is the gold plating. The train consists of 10 cars two of which are lounge cars and dining car whereas two observation cars are allowing you to enjoy in Japan’s scenery. Besides, there are bathrooms which look as if they are a part of an expensive hotel rather than a train. A lounge car is the best when you want to relax or meet new people, but there is also a piano, so you can enjoy listening to music. Once you feel peckish, there is a dining room with table-side service.
