The Dallas Cowboys will be playing their third game of the 2017 NFL Preseason this Saturday when they will be facing the Indianapolis Colts. So far, the Cowboys have had some starters in action, but they have tried to limit their time on the field. The guys that were dealing with some kind of injuries missed the first two games, but now, we have a big name that is going to be playing against Indy.

Jaylon Smith was Cowboys’ high draft pick last year. He is that dynamic linebacker that they are looking for to bolster their defense. It was a huge risk taking him with the second round pick. Some people even had him much higher on the draft board before that Fiesta Bowl game when he injured his knee and had some nerve damage. That is something that you can’t recover from with ease, which is why he took a long break. Year and a half was the time that he needed to take in order to rehab and get his body ready for NFL action.

Finally, he is going to make his pro debut for the Dallas Cowboys this Saturday against Indy. Jerry Jones has held him out of the first two games as the team didn’t want to take any risks with this guy and the injury that he has suffered. Now, they feel like he is ready to go. Smith might not see a whole bunch of snaps this Saturday, but they will give him a chance to show what he can do. Here is what team owner said about him.

“I know he is driven. He is focused,” Jones said. “If he can come out and contribute and have success, no one deserves it more than him. It’s been a real hard work and preparation, really overcoming the challenges. Nobody deserves it more than Jaylon. He has put that in and earned the respect of everybody associated with the Cowboys.”
