It was announced today that there is a big match ready for the next episode of Smackdown Live. As we saw in the previous edition of Smackdown, Randy Orton is no longer aligned with the Wyatt family, and he is ready to face Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 33. But, he did give up his spot, and AJ Styles was crowned as Bray’s next challenger.
Still, the winner of the Royal Rumble has some privileges, and so he will have a chance to regain his spot in the main event of the grandest stage of them all. So, it was announced that Randy Orton will be facing AJ Styles in a number one contender match and the winner will be facing Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship.
This was the plan all along. A lot of fans were unhappy about how the company treated the winner of the Royal Rumble, but smart fans realized that Orton has always been a Viper and this is what he does. There was no way that the writers of this show are going to script him giving up his guaranteed championship opportunity. There was just no way of that happening.
Orton will win this match, but it won’t be clean. Somehow Bray will probably help Orton win so that he can have his revenge on him. Or AJ Styles will somehow be tricked by Shane McMahon, and it will set up their match at the grandest stage of them all. Even if Shane doesn’t get involved, AJ can go after him since he did beat Harper, but he still didn’t get his spot in the main event of Wrestlemania because Shane made a match with Randy Orton.
