The aftermath of the Super Typhoon Haiyan is horrifying as government officials estimate that more than 10,000 people died in the central part of the Philippines. The survivors from the devastation cry out for immediate help such as food, medicine, water, shelter, and other supplies.

A survivor painted in large letters the words “Help, SOS. We need food” on the airport of Tacloban City, the hardest hit area in the Philippines where dead bodies are scattered everywhere, and almost all structures were flattened.

One woman told to the reported from BBC News. “We are very hungry and thirsty,” and according to her, she is sleeping by a roadside because the typhoon destroyed her house. Some survivors were anxious to inform their relatives that they are still alive, many are miserably looking for their missing family members, and others felt hopeless because they lost everything including their love ones.

“I have no house, I have no clothes. I don’t know how I will restart my life, I am so confused. I don’t know what happened to us. We are appealing for help. Whoever has a good heart, I appeal to you please help Guiuan,” said a woman crying.

The local doctors providing medical treatment were desperate because they run out of medicines. Since the typhoon, air force medics already treated approximately 1,000 people for cuts, bruises, lacerations, and deep wounds. Air force Captain Antonio Tamayo said, “It’s overwhelming. We need more medicine. We cannot give anti-tetanus vaccine shots because we have none.”

Officials from different international aid agencies assessing the damages of the storm attest that they never witnessed a devastation of such magnitude. The survivors are desperately begging for help.
