Honda Civic Type R Base Model May Hit The US Market In May 2018

We have been waiting so long for the Honda Civic Type R to go on sale in the United States and as it seems, we will have to wait until May next year for the entry-level Type R to arrive. The base model is the lightest and the cheapest variant offered.

HondaPro Jason wrote on Twitter that the 2018 Civic Type R Touring trim will be only available version Stateside at the beginning. According to the reports, this model represents the most premium model in the lineup and that we can expect from this vehicle a combination of luxury, comfort, and power, while it is supposed to be slightly heavier than the other variants.

If you are not chasing the luxury in the Type R, then you will have to be patient and wait for the next year to buy yourself a standard version. It is the time when the base model goes on sale without any unnecessary additions. The entry-level model is as fast as the Type R Touring on paper, but it looks more rugged and that is why some people may think that the base vehicle is quicker than the Touring.

Under the hood of the Honda Civic Type R lies a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the power is sent to the front wheels.
