Honda released an official statement regarding ‘one of the most anticipated models’ which is Honda Civic Type R. The Japanese stated that this car would be available to buy by the end of the spring in the United States. Civic Type R debuted at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and it quickly created a lot of hype because of its attractive looks. What’s even better is the rumor that it will cost around $35k. The official word is that this car will be, in the mid-$30k range and considering its looks and specs we are amazed a bit.

As we all know, the upcoming Civic Type R is the pioneer of its lineup in the US. It will feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine which produces 306hp (228 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton meters) of torque. These are the specs for US model of the car. Cars that are made for other markets will have a slightly stronger engine that can produce 315hp (235 kilowatts).

We started with engine and when it comes to specs and we will cover transmission next. The engine is connected to a short-throw, six-speed manual transmission which will put front wheels into work. Now, this front axis will benefit from a special ‘limited slip’ differential and dual axis suspension set. This will make your life easier when it comes to traction and car control. When it comes to wheels we’ll be blessed with 20-inch alloy wheels which cover Brembo brakes with front 13.8-inch rotors. We are of the opinion that this car won’t have problems with stopping to say the least.

When it comes to special trims this car is only available in ‘Touring’ spec trim. But, there isn’t a thing that you’ll miss. You will enjoy LED lights on all four corners, a seven-inch touchscreen display with navigation, premium audio, Apple Car Play and also Android Auto. Other than that you will have the benefits of really good tires which are 245/30 series of ContiSportContact tires and last but not least a full aerodynamic body kit.

We’ll end this article with the statement of Jeff Conrad (senior vice president of Honda America). He exclaimed ‘We’re happy to inform our U.S. enthusiasts that the long wait for the forbidden fruit of Honda Type R performance is nearly over’.
