The fans of the Highschool DxD have a lot of reason to be happy because the Season 4 is officially confirmed for 2018. The anime is the adaptation of Ichiei Ishibumi’s light novel, and production studio is switching from TNK to Passione, which may result in a different course of the story.

The important thing is that the main voice cast returns for the new season. Having said that, we will have Yuuki Kaji as Issei Hyoudou, Yōko Hikasa as Rias Gremory, Azumi Asakura as Asia Argento, Shizuka Itou as Akeno Himejima, Ayana Taketatsu as Koneko Tōjō, etc.

Light Novel and Anime Information

For those who don’t know, the author launched the light novel series in 2008 but four years were needed to pass for the anime to be made. Highschool DxD Volume 23 was released in spring earlier in the year, whereas Volume 24 is expected to arrive in less than a month. Even though there isn’t any official English translation of the novels, there are various fan projects that are dealing with this issue.

To film the first season of Highschool DxD anime, first two novel volumes were used, whereas they used third and fourth for the second season. There are two main story arcs which you should know if you watch, or you plan to start – The Excalibur of the Moonlit Schoolyard and The Vampire of the Suspended Classroom.

Three volumes – 5, 6, and 7 – were used for the third season, but since there was just too much material, the presentation of the story has been rearranged, and some elements of the later novel volumes were used to fill out the gaps. Some fans even got furious when the story was drastically changed in episodes 10, 11 and 12 compared to the story in the novels.

To cut things short, the Kuoh Academy school building got destroyed, whereas Issei fought Rias and both of them admitted their love for each other. Because the ending differs in the anime, we expect Highschool DxD Season 4 to diverge from the source material in some way to continue the story smoothly.

Highschool DxD Season 4 Release Date

At this point, we don’t know the exact release date of Highschool DxD except that it will come out at some point in 2018. Passione, an anime production company which will be in charge of the show, is also working on another project called Citrus which should be released in January. Since that is the case, expect Highschool DxD to come out later in the year.

If you don’t want anything to get spoilt, you should stop reading here. The second-year students are getting ready for a school trip in Kyoto, and Issei needs to deal with the excursion. Inside his subconscious, Issei meets Elsha and Belzard and he receives a box with future possibilities.

In Kyoto, a blond fox girl Kunou attacks Issei and his crew because she believes he was the one who kidnapped Yasaka, her mother. However, they join forces and start looking for the real kidnappers who are the human Hero Faction, and they believe that all fallen angels, dragons, and devils have to be destroyed for good.

Jumping forwards, we expect to see the new characters named Zeus, Hades, Indra, but these are just some of many. However, Rias is the one who is going to be inside Issei’s head, and she attempts to seduce him in the Hyoudou household’s sauna room. She does that because her mother Benelana is not satisfied with her progress with Issei, but he misunderstands her intentions and calls her Buchou, meaning President. Rias gets angry, whereas Issei reveals that his first girl Raynare’s actions still haunt him.
