Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) revealed that all the units of the Google Glass, available at the one day sales, has been sold out. The company has not disclosed the units sold/ordered. Hence, it’s quite difficult to make a statement on the popularity of this sale that was the first to the masses. Prior to this sale, there were only two ways of obtaining this gadget. Either they had to win it in some contest or they had to apply as a developer.

“Welcome to our new Explorers! All spots in the Explorer Program have been claimed for now, but if you missed it this time, don’t worry. We’ll be trying new ways to expand the Explorer program in the future. You can sign up below to stay updated. That’s all for now, folks,” the company mentioned on their Google+ account.

Number of units sold not disclosed

Google Glass that has arrived with Android 4.4 KitKat was everywhere in the news headlines yesterday as it was offered to the public for sale. All the units of the gadget were sold within a few hours.

Even though the company has not disclosed the number of units sold, there is a buzz that, until Tuesday, approximately 10,000 units of Google Glass were sold at a unit price of $1,500, and these buyers were previously selected by Google and known as Explorers.

Buyers will also be receiving a sunglasses shade or one of Google’s newly-introduced prescription glasses frames along with the purchase of Google Glass. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) started the Explorer program, in 2012, and the one day sale was an extension to that. For the one day sale, the eligibility criteria were over 18 years of age and a citizen of United States.

KitKat updates next week

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has taken some initiatives over the year to make this Gadget even better. They are updating their software regularly, improvising upon the existing features and introducing the new ones. The company has not announced a date as yet for the commercial launch.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) will be rolling out the KitKat software update for the Google Glass next week. The updates will improve the battery life, and will bring a new photo sharing feature in hangouts. Google removed the video calls feature for the time being, citing a poor user experience.
