Giants Escape The Saints With Game-Winning Field Goal

After that 52-49 embarrassment of a contest for both teams’ defenses, it was a different story this time around. It was a matchup in which both teams made a lot of mistakes, defenses exceeded expectations and offenses failed to meet them. In the end, it was a good day for the Giants.

Both Quarterbacks were able to move the ball and throw for over 300 yards, but Brees was the only one to throw a TD, and he did it only once. Saints’ defense was surprisingly decent. But, when it mattered the most, they made a huge mistake. Victor Cruz was able to catch a 34-yard pass from Manning to set up a game-winning field goal.

From 23 yards out, it was a chip shot for Giants. The field goal was good, and all the efforts of Saints defense were in vain. New York walked off with a 16:13 win over New Orleans.

Sterling Shepard proved that he will be a huge factor this season. He was game’s leading receiver with 117 yards while Victor Cruz recorded 91 receiving yards to help his team get the win.

Even though the Giants are still at the top of the division, they should be worried about this performance. Saints’ D is still one of the worst in the league, and their offense should have put up more points.

But, at the end of the day, wins matter the most and they got one. They are off to a 2-0 for the first time since 2009 and are on top of the NFC East giving them a great start point for the rest of the season.
