Gambit movie is going to premiere in 2019 and people appeared to have forgotten about it since it was dwarfed by some other films which have stolen the spotlight. We just want to remind you that the X-Men spin-off which has been postponed several times is going to hit theaters soon.
It seems that the people who are working on Gambit are finally on the right track. Two directors, Rupert Wyatt and Dough Liman, who were supposed to be in charge of the project departed and several reports hinted at Gore Verbinski, Pirates of the Caribbean to take over. Even though he still hasn’t mentioned anything, the release date has been confirmed officially.
Expect Gambit to arrive on February 14, 2019, a perfect day to see the movie with your loved one. However, the release date has been confirmed before, several times, and the project has been “developing” since 2007, so take this information with a pinch of salt, because delaying it further is always an option. Channing Tatum is going to play the role of Gambit and rumor has it that he talked to various directors such as Bennett Miller, Gareth Evans, J.C. Chandor and Darren Aronofsky, but they all turned his offer down.
One of the directors who was supposed to run the project, Doug Liman, said: “I look for a personal connection to the movies I make and it may not be immediately obvious. You know, like what’s my connection to Jason Bourne? I have a deeply personal connection to that movie because it’s all about Iran-Contra and my father ran the investigations into Iran-Contra. In every story I have a personal connection. The Wall, you’d be like what could this filmmaker from New York possibly have in common with these two soldiers pinned down in Iraq? But The Wall is really about perseverance. It’s about picking yourself up and you just keep going and that’s something I have firsthand experience with. Not in war but in other aspects of life. With Gambit, I just never found that personal way in. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t.”
There are obviously issues behind the scenes since Gambit was initially planned for October 7, 2016. Hopefully, this release date sticks and there are no more delays.
