The next-generation Ranger is a long-anticipated vehicle but the ongoing generation of the pickup is still important to Ford, and it will not be retired just yet. It is the best-selling truck in Europe with more than 23,000 sales since January. This pickup will get a Black Edition special version which is going to be introduced at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show later in September.
The Ranger Black Edition will be a limited series, and it will come with de-chromed body finish in the Absolute Black paint. The radiator grille, alloy wheels, exterior detailing and bed bars will be black as well. The special edition will come with an abundance of standard equipment such as a satellite navigation and SYNC 3 multimedia system with an eight-inch touchscreen display. Among other features, you can find front parking sensors, rear view camera, leather seat trim, power-folding, heated door mirrors and dual-zone electronic climate control.
Hans Schep, the general manager of Commercial Vehicles at Ford Europe said this about the Ranger Black Edition: “Ranger customers appreciate the vehicle’s tough, go-anywhere capability and its rugged good looks, and we expect this attractive new limited series to be snapped up within weeks.”
There will be no changes under the hood, which means that the Black Edition will be powered by two diesel units. One of them is a 2.2-liter I4 engine good for 130 hp or 160 hp whereas the second option is a 3.2-liter five-cylinder TDCI rated at 200 hp. Depending on an engine choice, you get either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
