Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s made an official announcement at the beginning of this year saying that they would reveal more specific details about Five Nights at Freddy’s movie version soon enough. And he has kept his word, but, unfortunately, the news is not as good as expected.

According to Steam Community, Cawthon did talk openly about the movie, but in the end, it turned out that he didn’t have much to say, as the film had gone through rough time. “The reality is that last year the FNaF movie was met with several delays and roadblocks, some involving problems within the movie industry as a whole. As a result, as of right now, the movie is back at square one,” Cawthon admitted.

Last year, we were all happy to hear that the script for the long-awaited film had been almost done, but now it seems like they are doing everything from scratch. In spite of that, Scott Cawthon still believes that everything happens for a reason and that this might not be a bad thing at all. “It’s bad because the movie is in its early stages again (so don’t expect a trailer anytime soon), but it’s good because I want to make sure that the right movie gets made, and things are on track right now for that to happen,” he said.

Finally, the creator admitted that he himself had not been that involved in the movie production so far, but he promised he would devote more time to this project. However, we should not forget that it’s him that we have to thank for most Five Nights at Freddy’s video game entries, including the last franchise title, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location. This recently released installment features some new characters, and it has been rumored that they are thinking of making these characters a part of the highly anticipated movie version.
