Fast and Furious franchise grossed billions of dollars, and even though the main story continues, we are also getting a spinoff. The spinoff will be called Hobbs and Shaw and as its name suggests it will expand the story of the two characters which appear in the original movies. Of course, they will be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham, respectively.
The news of the spinoff has not been well-received by the other actors from Fast and Furious family such as Tyrese Gibson, who attacked Johnson for making this film, therefore delaying the Fast 9. That didn’t stop The Rock from moving on with this project, which is officially in production.
On September 10, the popular actor posted a photo on Instagram, showing the fans that they have started working on the film. We can see Jason Statham talking with director David Leitch. Johnson captioned the photo: “DAY 1 and the evolution has officially begun. Long awaited Fast & Furious spin-off movie, #HobbsAndShaw is electric. My partner in heavy crime & fun @jasonstatham is lookin’ like $1million bucks and holdin’ it all down. Our visionary director @davidmleitch (just directed Deadpool2) at the helm and ready to evolve the franchise in exciting and fresh new ways.”
Johnson also added: “And as always, our @sevenbucksprod president @hhgarcia41 capturing the dopest images thru his lens. Keep crushing on that set boys… the man known as “HOBBS” will touch down in London in two weeks.”
The film is still early in the process of making, and little is known about the plot. However, the movie will give us more insight into the characters of Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs. Stay tuned for more details!
