First 2018 Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE on auction at Barrett-Jackson

Well, muscle car collectors this is one of those opportunities that can be missed whether there is life or death matter. Apparently, the Barrett-Jackson‘s upcoming auction in Palm Beach in just three days (April 7th) is a very special event on which they will “try” to find a new home for the very first 2018 Camaro ZL1 with the 1LE option package that will come off the assembly line. The money raised from this auction will go to the nonprofit organization called United Way.

Muscle cars enthusiasts probably know this, but we have to say that the 2018 Camaro ZL1 is a very powerful machine that rolled off directly from the assembly line, and what makes it a very powerful is the 6.2 L supercharged V8 that offers more than impressive 650 HP and 650 pound-feet of torque. To put all these ponies to work is a task of a 10-speed automatic gearbox which shoots all this power to the rear wheels and makes the car sprint from 0-60 MPH in 3.5 seconds, while the top speed of 198 MPH makes this the fastest Camaro ever. One more thing, you can also have it with a six-speed manual that comes as standard.

Now to turn to the 1LE package that actually improves the handling of the car and by doing that also improves the vehicle’s performance as well. With the 1LE package you get a new body kit that adds drive planes to the front corners and a big carbon fiber rear wing. Additionally, there is Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve dampers that are found on all four corners of the car, plus the wheels that are an inch wider than the stock ones with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires wrap around them. With these upgrades, according to Chevrolet, the Camaro loses 60 pounds more than the regular ZL1 and is able to pull the lateral grip of 1.1 G, which is again more that the standard ZL1’s 1.02 G that doesn’t have the 1LE package.

The Barrett-Jackson auction house has a very long history of auctioning off the very first examples of various highly anticipated vehicles, and by doing that they generally raise much more than the asking price is. Just to give you an example of that they managed to sell the premiere unit of the previous-generation Camaro ZL1 for $250,000 back in 2011.

The other example is NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick who bought the inaugural production of the latest Corvette coupe and convertible for $1.1 million and $1 million respectively. Impressive sums without a doubt, but I’m more interested in just how much will the first 2018 Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE going to fetch. Care to guess? Comment below and let’s see who will be the closest!

My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
