Based on the 1996’s Oscar-nominated movie Fargo, this crime drama aired for the first time on FX in April 2014. The first season was immediately followed by Season 2 next year, and it was during that same year that they started working on the next series renewal. Now let’s see what we know about Season 3 for now.

Judging by the first two seasons, the events in the series do not follow chronologically, since Season 1 is set in 2006, and Season 2 years before that, in 1979. Thus, it should come as no surprise that the third one is set in 2010. This means that there is a chance for some former characters to reappear. Noah Hawley, the creator of the drama, hinted that we could expect something like this to happen, as he said: “There are going to be connections, the way the first year was connected to the movie and the second year was connected to the first.”

Fargo Season 3 Cast

According to Variety, Carrie Coon, known for her role in “Gone Girl” (2014), will play Gloria Burgle in Fargo Season 3. This is how her character is often described: “Gloria is the chief of the Eden Valley police, and a newly divorced mother, who is struggling to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people right in front of them.” As for other female characters, we will also see Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Nikki Swango, “a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing; a woman with a plan who is focused on always being at least one move ahead of her opponents.”

When it comes to main roles, Ewan McGregor, having been cast twice, eventually accepted an unusual part – the role of twin brothers. In case you are puzzled about what this exactly means, this is how his double role in the series is explained: “Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, Emmit sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, Ray Stussy, on the other hand, is more of a cautionary tale. Balding, pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, Ray has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames his brother, Emmit, for his misfortunes.”
