The news about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson running for a president in 2024 is a made-up story. Even though Johnson is all over the place, literally, he still did not occupy that area yet.

The pop culture site Pajiba was the source of this fake news. Recently they posted this supposed announcement which you can read below:

“Hi. My name is Dwayne Johnson. Many of you may know me better as The Rock.

I am running for the President of the United States.

I know that this may sound like a joke to many of you. But it’s not. I am throwing my hat in the ring for 2024. I am not running against Donald Trump. I am not running against whatever candidate the Democrats field. I am not running against anyone. I am running for the country. As an independent. I am running on a simple platform of compassion and civility.”

Dustin Rowles explained this announcement as simply the way in which they see the best solution to the current situation of the political mess that prevails in America. For them Johnson obviously seems to be the best option for a president:

“It was just a joke! I didn’t expect (or want) anyone to take it seriously! Basically, I was just trying to imagine the magic bullet that could solve our current political crisis, and the idea of The Rock running for President seemed to make sense. He’s the one guy who could bring both sides back together again.”

Johnson who is a Republican Party member has talked about this before, and even though he finds the idea of having a greater impact on people and their lives attractive, he still finds himself at some different places.

“I’ll be honest, I haven’t ruled politics out. I’m not being coy when I say that, but at the moment I am not sure. I can’t deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring. And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives on a global scale. But there are a lot of other things I want to do first.”

In November 2016 he stated:

“If I felt like I could be an effective leader for us, and surround myself with really high-quality leaders, then sure, I would … I’ve found really good success in being able to galvanize people in a positive way and continued to push them, as I’ve pushed myself along the way too, because I walk what I talk, daily, which I think is an important quality.”
