Dwayne Johnson told British GQ in June last year that he has politics in mind, and there is a possibility that we see him as one of the presidential candidates in 2024. He said this in the middle of a tense political campaign led by both Clinton and Trump. Some of the fans thought that he was serious, while others believed he was joking. However, on Sunday, the “Run the Rock 2024” campaign committee filed on Johnson’s behalf to draft him for the next presidential election.

Kenton Tilford filed the form officially even though he had no apparent connection to Johnson. Furthermore, Tilford is not an official spokesman, and we are not even sure whether Johnson is aware of the filing. However, in his interview, Dwayne said that he would be a good leader.

“Personally, I feel that if I were president, poise would be important,” he told GQ for a cover story titled “Dwayne Johnson for President!“ He continued: “Leadership would be important. Taking responsibility for everybody. [If I didn’t agree with someone] on something, I wouldn’t shut them out. I would actually include them.”

Furthermore, he indicated that he would be nothing like the current president of the US. He said: “The responsibility as president—I [would] take responsibility for everyone. Especially when you disagree with me. If there’s a large number of people disagreeing, there might be something I’m not seeing, so let me see it. Let me understand it.”

Also, we could have seen Johnson together with Tom Hanks joking about presidency race in an episode of SNL when The Rock was the host. He would have the role of the country’s most important man, while Hanks would be a vice president.

Johnson has experience in addressing a political crowd, and in 2000, he spoke at the Republican National Convention. He emphasized the importance of voting and that he didn’t care whether you were “a billionaire or the garbage man” – you should always vote.
